A Weekend of Rowing Excellence

LETS GO CAMBRIDGE!!!

With 185 years of rivalry, the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race is one of the world’s oldest amateur sporting events.

On Friday, the 2024 Lightweights Boat Race was won by both Cambridge crews. The Men's Lightweight Crew, featuring Magdalene students, Ben Jones (2021), President of the Men's Lightweight Crew, and Freddie Markanday (2023), powered through to give the men's crew their 3rd consecutive win.

The Women's Lightweight Crew, featuring Lauren Britten (2019), President of the Women's Lightweight Crew, and Alice Baines (2021), rowed to give the women their 5th consecutive win.

On Saturday, both Cambridge boats won their races. The Women's Blue Boat beat the odds to win their 7th race in a row and the Men's Blue Boat gave their everything and took the win by 3.5 lengths in a gripping race!

Congratulations to our amazing student-athletes, Ben, Freddie, Lauren and Alice, and everyone involved in this amazing sporting achievement.
