The Chapel is at the heart of the College. All are welcome to this beautiful place, now in its 55th decade, to sit and pray, or just to seek some quiet amid its peace. The Chapel is a living place that brings the College community together in reflection, and offers Christian worship and prayer open to all. Chapel services and events offer space for belonging, beauty, enquiry and growth and are inclusive, open to all of any faith or perspective.
The Chapel is closed to visiting for members of the public at the moment. However, members of the public welcome to Magdalene’s Sunday Choral Evensongs at St Giles’ Church.
We are glad to welcome members of the public to Choral Evensong on Sundays at our parish church of St Giles’ Church CB3 0AQ. The College is grateful to the Rector and PCC for their permission to continue to use their beautiful, spacious church while our Chapel remains impractical for large, socially-distanced choral services. Please contact the Chaplain to book to attend.
For current students and resident Members
Chapel’s varied services and events get underway at the start of Michaelmas Term. All Members of College are welcome. Please see the Termcard page for more information.
About the Chapel
Built in the 1470s, the Chapel embodies Magdalene's rich heritage, our patron saint's life is depicted in the East Window, while memorials commemorate missionaries, church leaders, teachers, and those who gave their lives in conflict.
The College Chaplain, Rev'd Sarah Atkins, is available to talk to any member of the College community on any matter, personal, practical, or spiritual. Sarah is happy to hear from Members who would like to assist by reading lessons, leading prayers, or serving as a Chapel Officer.
There is an extensive program of worship in the College Chapel with many interesting and varied speakers throughout the College term. Find out what is going on this term in the Chapel and Discover what events and music recitals are taking place.
