What we are looking for
We assess each application individually, and look for different things in different people for different courses. We are always looking for students who show academic ability and potential, and who we think will flourish in the Cambridge academic environment.
UCAS application and My Cambridge Application
All university applications are made through the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). In addition to the UCAS application, applicants applying to Cambridge are required to complete an additional application form called My Cambridge Application.
Dates and deadlines
Are you thinking of applying to Magdalene? This page contains all of the useful dates and deadlines in the application timetable. The application deadline for 2023 entry is 15 October.
Before making an application, you need to check that you have, or are likely to achieve, the right grades in the right subjects for the course you would like to study. Cambridge requires top grades in the highest level qualifications.
Submitting Written Work
For some courses you may be required to submit examples of your written work from a relevant A-level (or equivalent) course. The work you submit may form part of the discussions at your interview.
Most applicants are required to take a written admissions assessment, either with ‘pre-registration required’ (before shortlisting for interview) or ‘Cambridge College registered’ (after you have been shortlisted for interview). These are used to supplement the other information in your application...
Interviews give us another way to assess your academic ability and potential, and to judge your suitability for study at Cambridge. Applicants invariably feel nervous about these, but our interviewers will try their best to help you relax. We want all interviewees to feel comfortable and at ease.
If you have experienced particular personal or educational disadvantage relevant to your application, it may be appropriate for your school or college referee to complete the Extenuating Circumstances Form.
Find out what will happen after you have made your application to study at Magdalene. Following the assessment of your application, there are two possible outcomes: you are made an offer or your application is unsuccessful.
