Deputy Buttery Supervisor

Full time (40 hours per week)
£25,394 per annum

The College seeks to appoint a Deputy Buttery Supervisor to work in and help oversee the Buttery team; serving food and beverages and maintaining the good order of the main food service areas, including the student cafeteria (Ramsay Hall), Formal Hall, and such other events in parts of Magdalene College as may from time to time be required.

The Buttery provides a food and geverage service to the College, and is responsible for serving Fellows, students, staff and guests at conferences, banquets and weddings as well as daily lunch and dinners. The Buttery Team are “front of house” and have a hugely important role in presenting a professional and efficient service to members of the College community and their guests.

The post holder will provide excellent customer service, be reliable and proactive with excellent teamwork and communication skills. You will have an understanding of professional catering services, till work and be able to work in a supervisory role.

The position is full-time, 40 hours a week, and attracts a salary of £25,394 per annum.

Undergraduate Tutorial Officer

Full time (36.25 hours per week)
Fixed term until March 2025

£32,066 - £34,131 per annum

The College seeks to appoint an Undergraduate Tutorial Officer to support the Academic Registrar and to provide professional administrative support for the academic activities of undergraduate students.

You will act as the first point of contact for all queries on tutorial matters and be responsible for all academic student administration.

You will also be responsible for all arrangements in connection with undergraduate exams and providing advice and information on undergraduate admissions matters, including processing and administering all applications to the College.

The role also involves liaising with the University International Student Team, offer holders, and Admissions Tutor to ensure Visa processes are adhered to.

Candidates should be educated to A level or equivalent with excellent administration skills, ideally have relevant experience within a Cambridge College and must be IT literate (including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel; CamSIS, CamCORS and Moodle is desirable). The post requires strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy along with excellent communication skills.

The position is full-time, 36.25 hours a week, and attracts a salary of £32,066 to £34,131 p.a. depending on experience. The post is fixed term to cover a period of parental leave.

College Porter

Full time (40.5 hours a week)
£27,467 p.a.

Magdalene College wishes to appoint a College Porter to assist the Head Porter in ensuring the provision of effective and efficient reception and support to students, staff, fellows and visitors. This is a varied role that touches all elements of College life.

The main Porters’ Lodge is based in Magdalene Street and is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Porters’ Lodge operates on a shift system of 4 shifts on followed by 4 shifts off.

The Porters’ Lodge is the reception point for visitors and our Porters must be polite, helpful and welcoming to all who need assistance. This can include external visitors, students in need of support as well as staff and fellows. The Porters’ Lodge is an important part of College life and it is essential that Porters support students during their studies as well as the wider College Community. This is a varied role that touches all elements of college life. Applicants must have customer service experience, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a courteous, friendly and professional manner. The post holder must also have the ability to remain calm and solve problems in challenging situations and be IT literate.

The position attracts a salary of £27,467 for working an average of 40.5 hours per week, plus excellent benefits including pension scheme, meals on duty, generous annual leave entitlement, cycle to work scheme, and the use of sports facilities and the gym and College punts during the summer.
