The Friends of the Pepys Annual Lecture 2022

The lecture inaugurates our new year of in-person events based on the magnificent collections in the historic libraries, many on the theme of Plants.

We are delighted to invite Friends and up to one guest to the Annual Lecture, taking place at 5pm on Thursday 3rd February in the Sir Humphrey Cripps Theatre, Cripps Court, Magdalene College (entry from Chesterton Road). On this occasion publisher Margaret Willes will give an illustrated lecture on Samuel Pepys and Plants.

 

Margaret Willes

Margaret Willes spent a career in book publishing and was Publisher at the National Trust. On her retirement she switched to writing books, focusing particularly on cultural and horticultural history. She is the author of The Curious World of Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn and The Domestic Herbal: Plants for the Home in the Seventeenth Century. 

Cost: The lecture is free of charge for friends and their guests.

We regret that there is no parking on site. 

Covid:  Social distancing will be encouraged. Seating will be limited and spread out to allow ventilation. Audience members are requested to wear a face covering unless exempt. To protect others, it is suggested that visitors to the College take a lateral flow test in advance, however evidence of this will not be requested.
